Beating the Ireland women’s cricket team by 4-wicket in the second T20 match at Malahide Cricket Club Ground, Dublin on June 29 (Friday), Bangladesh women’s cricket team ensured the series victory with one match left at hand. They took 2-0 lead of the series.
Batting first, Ireland scored 124 runs losing 8 wickets, Cecelia Joyce top scored with 60 runs off 47 balls while captain Laura Delany played an innings of 28-ball 20. They added 63 runs in the third-wicket stand. However, Shauna Kavanagh and Lara Maritz remained unbeaten on 15 and 7 respectively. Jahanara Alam chipped in with 2-15 while Nahida Akter claimed 2 conceding 18 runs.
In reply, Tigresses reached the target with four wickets and five balls remaining at hand. They scored 125 runs for 6. Opener Shamima Sultana scored the highest run for her team, 51 off 49 balls. She and Fargana Hoque, who scored 34-ball 36, made 75-run partnership for the second-wicket stand and took their team close to victory. Despite losing some quick wickets after that second-wicket partnership, Bangladesh eventually moved towards victory. For Ireland, Ciara Metcalfe and Laura Delany took two wickets apiece.

However, Bangladesh and Ireland will take on each other in the third and final T20 match of the series. This match is scheduled to be played at Sydney Parade in Dublin on July 1 (Sunday). No doubt, Bangladesh women’s cricket team will be eyeing to whitewash the Ireland women.
Bangladesh also defeated the host nation in the opening T20 match by four wickets at YMCA Cricket Club, Dublin. They took the winning run at the last ball of the 20th over. Jahanara Alam became the first Bangladeshi woman to take five wickets in international cricket.
