Keeping
in mind the upcoming three-match ODI series against West Indies, Bangladesh
Cricket Board (BCB) has named a 16-man squad. In this squad, four new uncapped
players- Abu Jayed Chowdhury, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Nazmul Islam Apu and Abu
Hider Rony- have been selected. Except Jayed and Shanto, other two players have
only the experience of playing T20 cricket in national jersey. Getting selected
in the first Test match against West Indies, the 24-year-old fast-bowler Jayed
made his Test debut.
Anamul Haque Bijoy has been recalled to the
Bangladesh team for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies. He last played in
the home tri-nation series involving Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka in January 2018. Mustafizur
Rahman and Mosaddek Hossain have been included as well. Selectors are confident
about Mustafizur’s complete recovery before the start of the ODI series. The cutter master sustained a toe injury during the IPL and as a result, he was left out of the squad that played a three-match T20 series against Afghanistan recently.
Despite
having poor form, Sabbir Rahman has been included in the squad. The hard hitter batsman could not even cross 40-run mark in any of his last 11 ODIs. Three-match ODI series between West Indies and
Bangladesh will kick off on July 22. First two matches will be played on July
22 and 25 in Guyana while the last ODI match will be played Saint Kitts on July
28.
